乾杯する

「乾杯する」は、make a toast が一般的です。toast は、皆さんご存知の「パンのトースト」の他に、「乾杯」「乾杯の言葉」の意味があります。

これは古代ヨーロッパで、小さな焼いたパンをワインやお酒に入れていたことに由来しているといわれています。

Let’s make a toast.
（乾杯しましょう。→ make toast ですと、パンをトーストする意味になるので注意してください）

Will you make a toast?
（乾杯の挨拶をしてもらえますか。）

Why don’t we have a toast?
（乾杯しましょう。）

I propose a toast.
（私が乾杯の音頭をとります。）
