Rice, miso soup, and onigiri (omusubi)
Rice is a staple food for the Japanese people.
Onigiri (or omusubi) is a ball of rice flavored with salt, and there are a variety of onigiri fillings such as pickled apricot, bonito flakes, or salted salmon.

Yōshoku
Yoshoku means a hybrid of Western and Japanese dishes.
When Japan modernized in the late 19th century, many Western dishes came to Japan, and Japanese chefs added a Japanese touch to them.
Typical examples include curry, omu-rice (omelette and rice), and a teriyaki burger.
A teriyaki burger is a hamburger with sweet soy sauce, and this flavor is popular in America.
